Sporting and Leisure Activities

For those of a sporting nature we can, when in season, arrange rough shooting, driven pheasant, wild fowling and duck. We can also arrange clay pigeon shooting, given enough notice.

Other activities that can be arranged include golf, as there are many golf courses only a short drive away, and pony trekking at a small riding centre outside Glenluce.

There are plentiful walks in the area and, should you wish to bring bicycles with you, a wide range of routes are available along quiet country lanes and forest tracks - we would be happy to advise.

For those interested in wildlife, it is not unusual to see red and roe deer, badgers, otters, foxes and a superb bird population, including red kites, buzzards, hen harriers, kestrels, as well as wide variety of the more usual small birds. On a few occasions, we have also been lucky enough to see the golden eagles from the Galloway Forest Park gliding across the thermals.

Aircraft enthusiasts will be pleased to know that the RAF does training exercises over the area - quite spectacular whether you're a plane spotter or not.

And, of course, for the fishermen among you, we do have our own coarse fishing and trout ponds.
